Q. Lets start here, what is your name?
A. Kelly Henning
Q. How do you start your day? Do you have a morning routine?
A. I wake up at 430am and hit the gym for 45 min fasted killer cardio. its like plyos on the treadmill! Then shower, eat and off to work
Q. How long have you been training?
A. I have always been athletic throughout my life. I played softball,track and basketball. Lifting weights started in highschool and i was hooked!
Q. What made you get into Fitness and Competition?
A. I have always wanted to be one of those beautiful girls on the stage. But it was an x-boyfriend that gave me the push to actually do it. Im grateful for that!
Q. How do you keep yourself motivated and on-track through the grueling dieting in the last few weeks?
A. I’m not gonna sugar coat it. ITS HARD. What keeps me going is looking in the mirror and being amazed at what all the hard work has done.
Q. What do you feel is the most important thing athlete can have in order to be successful in this sport?
A. Persistence! And staying focused on your goals. keep pushing!
Q. What is your favorite energy/pre-workout supplement? Protein supplement?
A. I love all BSN products especially Endoburn fatburner. for protein i take optimum nutrition Chocolate Whey and also ON glutamine I also love and Gaspari probiotic.
Q. How many days a week do you work out?
A. I kill it 5 to 6 days a week twice a day.
Q. What about working out while you are on the road?
A. I Its a MUST to book a hotel with a 24hr gym. I always have to get in at least one workout a day even on vacation!
Q. What competitions have you participated in and what were the results (bikini/fitness/figure)?
A. I placed 3rd in Bikini my first show at Southen States in 2010. In 2011 i placed 3rd at the New York Metro, 4th at Pittsburgh and 8th at Nationals- Team U
Q. What is one of the biggest sacrifices you’ve made, and was it worth it?
A. Well I definitely gave up my social life LOL! But it is well worth it. There is nothing that can compare to stepping out on that stage and feeling amazing!
Q. How much this kind of active life style, being (bikini/fitness/figure) athlete changed your life?
A. My life will never be the same again! I have the discipline to wake up every day at 430 for the gym, if i dont i feel guilty…i always pre cook my meals and take them everywhere i go so im always on time with my meals, if not i get a little crazy
Its all just second nature to me now and i love it! livin the FIT LIFE !!
Q. What is your favorite healthy meal?
A. I love salmon and sweet potato with flax oil drizzled on it! yum!!
Q. Favorite guilty indulgence?
A. Well i have alot!! pizza, pasta,chocolate, peanut butter probably tops the list! I can eat the whole jar!
Q. What is your favorite exercise?
A. I feel really strong when i do back and i love to feel the burn when i do legs!
Q. What do you want our readers to know about you that they couldn’t find out from seeing you on stage or in print?
A. Well Im a Jersey Girl at heart. Ive been living in Miami for 13 years now but… you can take the girl outta jersey but u cant take the jersey outta the girl. I will forever be proud of my “take no S#@T” attitude heehee
But at the same time i love to be pampered and have my spa day!
