Name: Raechelle Chase
Height/Weight: 168 cm 63kg’s (off season) Q. How long have you been training? A: I started training when I was 16 years old, I had some time off during my pregnancies but training has always been part of my life. Q. What was your body like before you started training? A. I was a gymnast when I was younger, I had a fast metabolism so I was lean but didn’t have a lot of muscle mass. Q. How do you keep yourself motivated and on-track through the grueling dieting in the last few weeks? A. I compete with the best Pro Figure competitors in the world, so I remind myself of that constantly, I don’t want to look out of place on stage. Also all the work I have put in leading up to this point would be a waste if I didn’t push it through the last weeks. Q. Do you get more attention from the people now that you are in such good shape? A. I have definitely had a lot of job offers especially in magazines & television since I started competing, It’s great that I’m able to work in the industry that I love. Q. What is the one key piece of advice you could pass on to our readers? A. Everyone wants to lose weight. It’s simple, ‘Stop eating crap everyday’ and you will. Q.What is your favorite energy/pre-workout supplement? Protein supplement? A. I am currently on a new Raw foods/Vegan Diet. I am taking the following supplements: Raw Protein, Electrolyte concentrate (minerals), Calcium liquid, Digestive enzymes, Probiotics, sprilina, Chia & hemp seeds, Calcium liquid, B12,B6, Iron, and Chlorella & Bee Pollen Q. How many days a week do you work out? A. I usually train 6 days a week splitting my work outs into one body part per day so I don’t have to spend too long in the gym each session. Q: How many exercises per body part do you typically do in a workout? A: I will normally do about 4-5 different exercises per body part depending on what I’m training. Q: How much weight will you normally gain during the off-season? A: I compete at about 60 kg’s and try not to go past 63kg’s off season so I’m ready for photo shoots all year round. Q. What kind of workout program do you follow? A. I prefer to train one body part at any given workout, that way I feel like I can give that muscle group 100% and not have to hold back because I know I still have other areas to train. I also get board if I plan to train more than one muscle group which then leads to loss of motivation and focus and training becomes a chore. Training one body part means I’m in and out of the gym in 45 mins and I’m highly motivated! That’s the way I like it. My training split looks something like this: #1 Shoulders/Abs #2 Quads/butt #3 chest/Abs #4 back #5 Arms/Abs #6 Hamstrings/butt Q. What competitions have you participated in and what were the results? A. After turning Pro in November 2009: Sacramento Pro 2009-10th Place California Pro-2010 13th Place. Q. What do you wish you had known before you started doing shows? A. Posing practice is just as important as training if not more important! Q. Looking back on what you have accomplished so far, what is one thing you would change if you could, knowing what you do now? A. I would have practiced posing more! Q. What is one of the biggest sacrifices you've made, and was it worth it? A. I don’t feel like I’ve made any big sacrifices except sacrificing my own already limited spare time. I would never sacrifice my family’s needs for anything. Q. What do you feel is the most important thing a bodybuilder/fitness/figure/bikini can have in order to be successful in this sport? A. If you choose to compete, do so with all the motivation and dedication you can pull, because it’s not an easy road. But when you get to the stage and look back you will see that it was worth it, even if you only do it once, it will be worth the effort. Remember its 90% diet so know what nutrients your body requires to achieve the goals you have set for yourself. Q. Is it not very hard to exercise and lift on such a low calorie diet? I am talking about the pre-contest diet. I know you follow a very low calorie pre-contest diet. Don't you get hungry? A. Yes it’s always been a huge challenge during the last weeks on contest prep which is why I am trialing a new Raw foods/Vegan diet for my next competition. I would like to see if I can feel good throughout my contest prep & right up to contest day! Q.For someone who is currently a non-competitor, but wants to be as healthy and fit as possible, what would you recommend as far as diet ratios and workout plan (i.e. combination of weights and cardio, how many days, etc.)? A. It depends what your goals are and what you are currently eating and how much exercise you’re doing currently. I think if someone’s goals are to be fit & healthy aiming for 40 mins cardio 3-4 times a week and weight training for 45 mins 4-5 times a week they are doing well. Limit your carbs in the afternoon and try to keep your diet as clean as possible. |
